Canadian Fintech Companies Target the UK
At the London stock exchange very recently 12 Canadian FinTech Companies set off on a trade mission across the UK as they went in search to find a suitable base to set up operations in the UK Market which is obviously great news for the FinTech Jobs Market.
The firms have already collected over half a billion dollars in capital and are actively looking to expand their operations overseas. The trade mission which is taking place between the 21st and 25th October will allow businesses to meet industry and government to find support and explore opportunities for investing or setting up in the UK.
The companies represent the very best of Canada’s FinTech Industry. In London the companies will meet major Banks such as HSBC and Santander, while in Edinburgh they will meet with FinTech Scotland and Scottish Investment Bank amongst others.
Graham Stuart, Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade, said:
“The UK and Canada are natural partners in FinTech, and we are determined to make the UK the easiest and most attractive place for Canadian innovators to open and build their businesses.”
The UK FinTech Sector Contributes GBP £6.6 Billion Annually
THE UK FINTECH SECTOR CONTRIBUTES GBP £6.6 BILLION ANNUALLY TO THE UK ECONOMY, WITH OVERALL INVESTMENT IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS OF 2019 REACHING NEW HEIGHTS WITH £2.3 BILLION IN FUNDING.
The UK is a global leader in FinTech. Through it’s dedicated Trade Department, DIT, they will continue to reach out to the world’s most exciting entrepreneurs and show them what the United Kingdom has to offer.
